Switzerland considers more sanctions against Iran

Switzerland is considering bringing in tougher sanctions against Iran to keep it in line with increased measures put in by the EU.

The economics ministry says it notes the EU has added several institutions and some Iranians to its sanctions list following the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini after her arrest by the country’s morality police.

EU foreign ministers are also considering a stronger response if Tehran’s involvement in the Ukrainian war is proven.

The government says it will also be waiting for the EU’s reactions on that – and is reviewing further steps.
