The highly respected Swiss train network has just missed out on being named the best railway company in Europe.
That honour has gone to the Italian firm Trenitalia.
The SBB is second – tied with the Czech firm RegioJet.
The organisation Transport & Environment has published its ranking. It used eight criteria to make its determination. Price was the most important, followed by reliability. There were also extra points for the number of services and compensation policies.
The worst company is Eurostar which runs services through the Channel Tunnel.
