It could be the furthest blue-light response by fire fighters from Geneva, Vaud and Valais.
Teams are in the Balkan country of Montenegro – 1,600 km away – fighting forest fires.
The fires are threatening the capital and other regions.
Twenty-two firefighters from Switzerland are on the ground with vehicles to back up local crews.
The mission, coordinated by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, is Switzerland’s first joint operation under a new emergency cooperation agreement.
