Station preview in Lausanne

Hundreds of Lausanne residents got a rare look inside the giant rebuild of the city's main station this weekend

Open days let visitors walk through the future Épinettes underground car park, a 319-space structure spread across several levels.

The neighbouring Simplon car park is being torn down, with 3,800 square metres of its concrete recycled into other projects.

The work is part of a years-long modernisation of one of Switzerland's busiest stations.

Disruption to trains and commuters is set to continue for several more years.
