There are reports Vladimir Putin’s mistress and their children are hiding out in Switzerland.

In a report in the US news outlet, Page Six, it’s claimed the gold medal winning gymnast Alina Kabaeva is in Switzerland with their 4 children.

While the couple have not confirmed it – Putin has always been very tight-lipped about his personal life – it’s thought they have 7-year-old twin daughters, who were born in Lugano, and two other older sons.

Kabaeva has been a pro-Kremlin member of parliament and in 2014 was chosen to run the National Media Group on a reported salary of USD 10m a year. She’s rarely seen in public.

It’s not immediately clear if the sanctions announced by the government will impact Putin’s family in Switzerland.
