Several social media accounts in Switzerland have been hacked and child pornography images uploaded onto unsuspecting users’ timelines.
In April last year the details of around one and a half million Facebook and Instagram users in the country was stolen.
Meta, the company that owns Facebook and Instagram reported some account owners to US law enforcement agencies – who then pass on the information to Swiss officials.
Most of the victims live in canton Sankt Gallen. The police say it’s important to make a report if your account has been affected. If you don't, you may be investigated yourself.
