One skier has died and another seriously injured after being caught up in an avalanche in canton Obwalden.
On Monday afternoon the pair are thought to have tiggered a slab avalanche and were swept away, being carried more than 500 meters.
Alerts were significant that day after a weekend of heavy snow.
Warnings across the Alps remain in place and skiers are urged to stay on marked pistes.
