It could be called biscuit-gate. There’s a growing fuss over the biscuits served at the Geneva tram line opening last weekend which were made in Lausanne.
They were handed out at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Bernex tram extension. They had the number 14 in icing – to match the number of the tram line – but also said ‘made with love in Lausanne’.
The head of the Geneva farmers association, John Schmalz, points out there’s been a law in Geneva that encourages the use of local producers.
It does seem to be an error. The TPG says they thought the biscuits would be made in Geneva as they ordered them from a business with a Geneva shop-front.
But the flowers were from a Bernex florist and the wine served was local.
