A chateau in canton Fribourg has been bought by a notorious American right-wing blogger who is offering to rent it out to those who share his views.

The Chateau de Cressier, near Murten, is listed by the Confederation as cultural asset.

The blogger goes under the name of Vox Day – but is 53-year-old Theodore Beale who was born in Minnesota.

He has written in the past that black people are more prone to violence and has questioned giving women the right to vote.
He has also expressed admiration for Adolf Hitler.

An investigation by the Tribune de Genève shows he’s been living in canton Vaud for around 10 years before buying the castle.

Although his audience is mainly American, he did criticise Switzerland for applying EU sanctions against Russia in an article ‘Grandiose Stupidity in Switzerland’.

The syndic of the commune, David Humair, told the paper that they will be monitoring the situation carefully and will take action if necessary.
