Questions over US jet purchase

As parliament meets for the first time for the spring session, the reverberations following the contentious meeting between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the White House on Friday have hit Bern.

Most specifically, on the decision to buy 36 F 35 fighter jets from the United States. 

Many parliamentarians say the government should look at the legal implications of pulling out of the USD 6bn deal. 

Green Party member, Fabien Fivaz, says buying American may be a mistake given the new geopolitical situation. 

There are already concerns inflation may push up the price of the planes, due to delivered by the year 2030.
