The National Council has approved up to CHF 200 million in federal funding for the 2038 Winter Olympics in Switzerland, by 137 votes to 40
he Games would be spread across the whole of the country with no new venues built.
There will be no national vote: deputies have decided that the timetable rules out a referendum before Switzerland must submit its dossier to the IOC.
If the bid meets requirements, Switzerland will become the first country ever to host, rather than a single host city.
