Only 24 hours after hundreds gathered on the Place des Nations in Geneva in support of Israel, a similar number of pro-Palestinian protestors met yesterday afternoon.
Some told the press that despite the Hamas attacks, Israel doesn’t have the right to eradicate a population.
Protestors also urged Switzerland not to label Hamas a terrorist organisation – a move being considered at the moment.
Also, police in canton Basel City are preparing for a large pro-Palestinian rally later today.
They’re expecting a large turnout as the call goes out on social media.
The police have given the go ahead for the protest – but a march won’t be allowed – it will be contained on the Barfüsserplatz.
Meanwhile, the university, ETH Zurich, has forbidden a protest by Palestinian supporters. The university says it strongly condemns the Hamas attacks on Israel.
Switzerland relies too heavily on an American NGO to detect child sexual abuse online, raising questions about the country's ability to protect children on its own.
