Possible law change to protect biological fathers

Switzerland may change the laws surrounding the rights of the father.

An expert panel is recommending deceived fathers should have more rights as should biological fathers.

It could be the case a child ends up with more than 2 legal parents.

Currently the law states a husband is automatically the father – whether he is or not.

But the law could be changed to allow the biological father the right of paternity and husbands the right to contest paternity beyond the currently allowed 5 years of the birth.

The Swiss Association of Co-parenting suggests that it could be possible that a child has more than 2 parents with an official role for the biological father as well as the social father.

Studies suggest there are around 5 babies born every day in Switzerland where the incorrect father is listed on the birth certificate.
