Plants bloom in lake

Lake Geneva is being taken over by an explosion of aquatic plants this summer.

The harmless macrophytes thrive in warm, sunny conditions and exceptionally clear water — but they're causing problems for swimmers and boats.

Authorities are using a new weed cutter to clear them.

The plants can grow back within just three days, although they're already starting to turn brown as autumn approaches.
