A Geneva parent is trying to get the Friday that falls after the Jeune Genevois, which is always on a Thursday in September, an official day off for schools.
Jérôme Fontana has launched a petition.
He says the Friday after the cantonal holiday is a farce. Many children are absent anyway, classes are half empty and the school day is wasted for those who are there.
He says he doesn’t want another holiday day, but take a day off the Easter break to compensate.
Signatures will be collected mainly online through the teachers and parents’ association.
