Over 400 permits issued to Ukrainians in Geneva

Over 400 ‘S’ permits have been issued to Ukrainian refugees in Geneva. The permits allow access to social assistance, medical care and education.

Also, the Confederation is paying the cantons CHF 1,500 per refugee per month.

It’s thought there are those who haven’t come forward yet to claim the permit, although they are already in the canton.

It’s likely they managed to find accommodation directly. Ukrainian nationals have the right to stay in the country for 90 days before having to report their presence.

Figures show the vast majority of those arriving are women and children.

The canton still has plenty of beds available at the moment – adding together facilities provided by the state and people offering to accommodate Ukrainians, there are 2,700 places – 253 have asked for accommodation so far, but authorities expect more to come.

Across the country 13,000 Ukrainians have asked for help.
