Anger is mounting in Switzerland after Donald Trump’s criticism of the Pope and a controversial image he posted depicting himself in a Christ-like role.
The post, later removed, has drawn strong condemnation from Swiss church leaders.
Bishop Joseph Maria Bonnemain of Chur called the imagery “pure blasphemy,” while Bishop Charles Morerod of Lausanne, Geneva and Fribourg criticized the tone of the attacks.
The controversy has also sparked more general outrage, with many people describing the image as shocking and disrespectful.
