The foreign ministry says it is recommending Swiss nationals should not travel to Ukraine – but it’s not calling on those already there to leave, unlike many other countries.
The ministry says there’s no urgency for citizens to leave and there are no evacuation plans for diplomatic staff.
Swiss residents are being urged to register with the embassy so they can be contacted quickly if necessary.
The latest figures suggest there are just over 200 Swiss citizens in Ukraine, but correspondents say that’s likely to be an underestimate.
