From today if you use the autoroute you have to have the 2022 vignette.
Police traditionally stage vignette checks at this time of year. If a driver is caught without one, they face a CHF 200 fine and then also has to buy a sticker at CHF 40.
The law clearly states the driver of the car is responsible – not necessarily the owner. Telling the police ‘It’s not my car’, is not going to get you out of the fine.
For the vignette to be valid, it has to be firmly stuck to the windscreen in a prominent position.
