A new train timetable is now in force.

There are more direct trains from French speaking Switzerland to the east of the country. Geneva airport will be better served at weekends and the Golden Pass line now travels from Montreux to Interlaken without having to change.

Many tourist services have been improved. The Verbier Express is back from Geneva airport – trains now go direct to La Châble in Valais.

There will also be better links to Ticino from Lausanne starting early next year.

Swiss Federal Railways also say next year will see further substantial modernisation works
