Switzerland has reported its first case of a particularly serious variant of Mpox – formerly known as monkeypox.
The Federal Health Office says the patient, who has recently returned from Africa, has been isolated and there’s no threat to the population.
The WHO says the variant, known as Clade 1b, is more contagious and lethal than previous variants.
The new type has been spreading in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where fighting is hampering efforts to contain it.
