Canton Geneva has opened up a new online service so newcomers can register their arrival.
It’s available in French and English.
Swiss nationals can change their canton of residence and non-Swiss can apply for the relevant residence permits and companies can get work permits for their staff.
The Cantonal Office for Population and Migration says the great advantage is that all forms submitted will be complete as the system doesn’t allow unfinished forms to be sent in.
The office says with the paper system, up to 80% of initial applications are incomplete.
