A new forest is being created in Geneva. 400 trees are being planted around the development of the educational centre at CERN,
Some of the trees are already 10 meters high and 40 years old. Many have been brought in from Hamburg in Germany as there were not enough available trees in this country.
The trees arriving are varied – there are oaks, elms, cherry trees and pines.
The largest tree – a 40-year-old oak, weighs 7 tonnes.
The planting has to be finished by the spring so the trees will leaf when the warm weather returns.
