Switzerland's 27 September vote on tightening neutrality is splitting the political left three weeks out from polling day

The initiative, backed by the SVP and Pro Suisse, would limit the country's ability to join international sanctions against warring states.

The Social Democrats are campaigning against it, warning it would strip Switzerland of a key foreign-policy tool.

Parts of the radical left back the limit, arguing that EU sanctions hit ordinary people hardest.

Both camps took part in a heated debate in Geneva last week.
