Nepal crisis ongoing

Switzerland's Nepalese and Tibetan communities are still waiting for word from relatives after violent floods tore through a Himalayan valley last Wednesday

Bridges, dams and homes were swept away within seconds, and roughly 3,000 people are missing across Nepal and Tibet.

The president of the Swiss-Nepalese Society says he knows around five people in Switzerland who have lost relatives, friends or homes in the disaster.

A representative of the Tibetan Youth in Europe association describes a shockwave through the community, with information from the Tibetan side extremely scarce.

The Swiss-Nepalese Society plans to launch a donation appeal in the coming days.
