Multi-million franc chocolate paradise to open

In the Swiss town of Broc, Nestlé has unveiled plans for a massive new chocolate theme park.

The “Parc du chocolat Cailler” is now projected to cost 400 million francs — five times the original estimate — and could become one of the country’s biggest tourist attractions.

The existing Maison Cailler museum will be dramatically expanded, with the full visitor experience expected to last up to five hours. Developers are targeting one million visitors a year, rivaling attractions like the Lindt Home of Chocolate.

Plans also include hotels, restaurants, a wellness centre and even cocoa-filled greenhouses, with construction set to begin next year and a first opening hoped for by 2030.

Backers say improved public transport links and new infrastructure will help manage visitor numbers and boost tourism in the Gruyère region.
