A national parliamentarian is preparing a motion that would make all car owners fit winter tyres.
The heavy snow falls last week triggered a spate of accidents, and various police forces across the country said in many cases the vehicles were not ready for winter.
The MP, Gabriela Suter, says those drivers are endangering others. She’s proposing making it mandatory to have winter tyres from November to February.
Although it's not compulsory to fit winter tyres – drivers could be penalized by their insurance company if they have an accident with inappropriate equipment.
