Swiss Federal Railways will be putting on extra trains over the Ascension weekend to handle the expected increased demand for those wanting to take a long weekend break.

There’ll also be more trains for the Pentecost break a week later.

Ascension is on Thursday May 9th and Pentecost is on Monday 20th.

There’ll be 62 more trains for Ascension and 48 for Pentecost.

The SBB warn due to the continued disruption to the Gotthard Base Tunnel, heading to Ticino will be an hour longer – but the return trips will be using the tunnel.

In all, the extra trains mean around 50,000 more seats for each weekend.
