More multiple infections of Omicron

More and more people are being infected with the Omicron variant more than once, and there won’t be the opportunity of a fourth dose of the vaccine until the autumn. That’s according to the president of the vaccination committee, Christoph Berger.

He says the multiple infections are due to the antibodies in the mucus membrane declining.

The Federal Health Office says there’s not enough information to determine how many exactly are being infected, due to many cases being symptom free.

Although the effectiveness of the vaccine is likely waning in many people, there’s not a recommendation for a fourth dose and vaccines designed specifically for Omicron are not yet available.
