More jihadist cases reach court

Federal Criminal Court, Bellinzona TI

Switzerland's federal prosecutor is running 140 investigations into suspected jihadist terrorism — the highest figure ever recorded.

Cases cover recruitment for banned groups, financing, propaganda, departures for jihad, and the planning of attacks on Swiss soil.

Between 2022 and 2025, prosecutors brought 17 indictments before the Federal Criminal Court in Bellinzona - 5 more have already been filed since January.

The same court is currently holding the trial of an 18-year-old from Aargau, accused of planning a random knife attack in the name of Islamic State.
