Major manhunt after 10 year old found dead

A pan-European manhunt is on following the death of a 10-year-old girl in a small French town close to the Geneva border.

Last week the victim’s elder brother returned home in Veigy-Foncenex to find his sister dead. Police say she’d been strangled. The house had also been partially burnt.

The girl’s 51-year-old father was responsible for her at the time. He’s considered the main suspect.

The man is separated from the mother. She’d not been at home for several days.

The man’s car, a white Citroen, has been spotted crossing the Swiss border several times - but has now disappeared.

All European police forces are now on alert. The man is considered armed and dangerous as a sports rifle is also missing from the house.
