Major drug ring smashed in Geneva.

Geneva police have smashed a large scale and highly organised drug ring – one of those arrested is a Green Party elected official for Grand Saconnex. She was re-elected over the weekend.

Also arrested was her husband and 35-year-old son. This son is thought to be the leader of the operation. In total nine people were detained.

Police say they found over a kilo of cocaine, passports and cash in their home and more in other localities around the city.

The total amount seized was 4 kilos of coke, and several kilos of ketamine, cannabis products, ecstasy and Xanax pills.

Also, more than CHF 100,000 in cash was found.

Locals have been telling the press that the family took frequent trips to Dubai.

The lawyers acting for those arrested say they dispute the charges.
