Lugano is to allow the payment of all city bills in crypto – including tax.
The city says it will accept bitcoin and tether, which is pegged to the US dollar.
But it's not the first place to do so. Already the canton of Zug accepts crypto as does the commune of Zermatt.
All crypto payments in Switzerland are handled by a Zug based firm The Crypto Company.
