Long summer cuts ice rinks

The Indian summer means a delay to traditional winter season activities.

Normally by now, an outdoor ice rink has been set in in the Neuchatel town of Chaux-de-Fonds. But that’s been delayed as highs of 20 degrees means the ice won’t form.

The town’s sports department says they’re ready to build the rink – but it must be put back while it’s so warm.

Various hockey clubs who rent ice time are being philosophical. One club says they will just have to put back their training schedule.
