A lightning strike killed 21 sheep in canton Obwalden last week.
The bolt hit a metal cross on the summit of the Arnihaaggen – the dead animals were all nearby.
Many of the sheep were of a distinguished breed and had been showed at agricultural shows in the past. The owners say that many years of selected breeding had been wiped out.
The carcases had to be removed by helicopter.
