Car spotters in canton Aargau had a surprised when they spotted an Italian police Lamborghini on the autoroute.

Italian police have two of the supercars which they use to catch extreme speeders. They are also sometimes used to transport emergency medical supplies and organs for transplant.

Aargau police say the car was simply passing through Switzerland on the way to a visit to the Netherlands.

The route had been approved by the Federal Police Office.
