A small group of Chinese tourists had to be rescued from the Jura mountains in the Pays de Gex on Saturday evening.
The Gex Fire Department, which organised the search, said they were very unprepared for their winter mountain hike – and had started to panic.
Authorities were first warned the group was lost at around 8pm - they were found two hours later and were airlifted off the mountain.
They were said to be in a weakened state.
