Authorities are warning against swimming in the lake around canton Valais as fecal matter has been detected.
There were warnings last week of possible pollution from sewerage plants in Valais that have been damaged by the storms. Heavy rain overwhelmed the system leading to overflows into the Rhone River.
The Valais Consumer Affairs Service warns against swimming until the situation has been better assessed.
But the pollution has not yet expanded further, however canton Vaud says it’s monitoring the situation carefully.
