Households feeling the financial strain

Even middle-class Swiss households say they are struggling to make ends meet, with 89% of Swiss now tracking spending every month

According to a study, more than half have cut back on leisure and holidays this year, and 47% have scaled back food shopping.

Rising heating oil prices mean some families are rationing their winter supply, hoping prices fall before the cold hits.

Pensioners and low earners feel it hardest, with some already selling the car to stay afloat.
