Heavy snow, rain and hail is causing havoc in central parts of the country.
Storms have disrupted road and rail traffic and avalanche warnings are now in place.
The rail line between Meiringen and Interlaken in canton Bern has been washed away and won’t be running again until the end of November, say Swiss Federal Railways. A storm yesterday afternoon has wrecked more than a kilometre of tracks.
Heavy snow has been falling in central and eastern regions. Avalanche alerts are in place in several areas of cantons Uri and Graubünden.
Some passes are closed.
Hail has hit areas of canton Sankt Gallen – causing significant damage.
It’s part of Storm Boris, which is expected to cause major flooding in eastern and central Europe over the next few days.
