The neighbouring French department of Haute Savoie is suffering a minor crime boom.
The latest figures show there’s been a 9% increase in assaults, 14% rise in burglaries and a 6% rise in damage to property from 2022 to the end of last year.
The figures have just been released by the prefecture.
There have also been two attempted murders and two kidnappings.
The crimes seem to be linked with drug trafficking. Authorities say a crackdown is having a positive effect.
