Get ready for a very hot weekend

Forecasters are warning we should brace ourselves for a heat wave this weekend.

Temperatures will climb above 30 degrees from Friday – possibly reaching 35 at some points, and not cooling down again until this time next week.

The reason is hot air moving up from Spain, which has arrived from the Sahara.

Meteorologists say it’s been trapped by a high-pressure system which is pushing it up through France and towards us.

The hot weather also brings with it the chance of major storms. But its too early to predict how strong they’re likely to be.
