After many years of prevaricating – Geneva will be getting a new social and cultural centre on the banks of the Rhone in Vernier.
There’s been an old waste water treatment plant sitting idle on the banks for many years. It’s been taken over by squatters and is slowly deteriorating.
Part of the building overhangs the river has been used as a platform to leap into the water every summer.
Following a court ruling, the last hurdle to redevelop the site has been cleared and work should start in the spring.
