Canton Geneva has issued a forest fire alert – it’s raised the level to three, out of five.
While the move doesn’t ban all open fires, yet, the canton is urging caution.
Fires are now forbidden outside designated areas.
Similar alerts are also in force in other cantons, such as Valais.
The recent hot weather, coupled with gusts of wind, make the situation very dangerous at the moment, say authorities.
Heat to stay for now
The heatwave alert has been extended until Thursday, with temperatures set to climb as high as 37 degrees in some areas.
