Long swimsuits are once again allowed in Geneva's public pools, after the canton's constitutional court suspended the ban.
The ruling grants a temporary reprieve while judges consider the substance of the case, brought by the Coordination for Inclusive Swimming.
The law came into force on 30 May and was designed to ban the burkini, but its wording also caught longer UV-protection suits recommended for sun safety.
Judges said excluding all these swimmers from public pools during a heatwave could cause "difficult-to-repair damage".
Five Geneva communes, including Vernier, Carouge and the City of Geneva, have separately challenged the law over cantonal autonomy.
