The number of cross-border workers is climbing sharply in Geneva. At the end of last year there were nearly 96,500 – up more than 6,000 from the year before.
The Cantonal Office of Statistics says it won’t be long before the 100,000 figure is reached.
While there was a drop during lockdowns and other Covid restrictions, the canton says there’s a catch-up effect happening – showing the economy is bouncing back quickly.
While many areas of the country have border workers – Geneva leads. 27% of all cross border workers in Switzerland work in Geneva.
