Another fire tragedy has struck Switzerland.
Six people died after a post bus caught fire yesterday evening in Kerzers in canton Fribourg.
Police say four other passengers were injured, three of them seriously, when the blaze broke out shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Murtenstrasse.
Authorities believe the fire was deliberately started, although investigators say there is no indication of a terrorist motive. One of the injured was airlifted to hospital by Rega, while the bus was completely destroyed.
Witnesses have told the press they saw someone carrying cans of petrol, which they poured over themselves, but the police aren’t commenting. But they do say that at the moment, there is no evidence of a terrorist attack.
The president, Guy Parmelin, says he’s deeply shocked that more people have lost their lives in a fire in Switzerland.
Police have opened a witness hotline as investigations continue.
