A former Yverdon-les-Bains resident convicted of plotting attacks in France has been stripped of his Swiss nationality, in a decision confirmed by the Federal Administrative Tribunal
The 36-year-old was born in Bosnia-Herzegovina, naturalised in 2000, and sentenced to 15 years by a Paris court in 2021 for planning Islamic State-inspired attacks, including in Nice.
In 2021 the State Secretariat for Migration revoked his citizenship, arguing the terror plot had damaged Switzerland's reputation and interests.
The court agreed on Monday, though he may still appeal to the Federal Supreme Court. It is one of the rare cases where Switzerland has formally taken back a naturalisation.
