First Geneva e-scooter death

A man in his sixties has died in Onex after falling from an electric scooter, the first fatal accident of its kind in canton Geneva.

Police have opened an investigation to determine exactly what happened.

Across the country, the growing use of e-scooters has been accompanied by a rise in accidents, with eight deaths recorded since 2020.

Authorities say riders are often at fault, frequently due to inattention or alcohol.
