Residents in Ticino are being warned not to have any open fires after part of a forest caught fire yesterday morning.
Firefighting helicopters were used to dump water on the Monte di Gambarogno just above Lake Maggiore.
Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control - but authorities are warning there’s a high risk at the moment throughout the canton due to a long-lasting drought.
The weather is unusually dry and warm for the time of the year – highs in Ticino reached 20 in some places yesterday.
